Multicultural Festival 2020 – New Cracovians

The Villa Decius Association in partnership with the Villa Decius Institute of Culture would like to thank you for participating in the Multicultural Festival – New Cracovians, which took place from November 26 to December 3, 2020. The Multicultural Festival is an initiative that connects people of different nationalities, cultures and religions. “Strength in solidarity” – this is the slogan that guides the program of this year’s edition of the Festival.

Getting to know each other takes place in an atmosphere of tolerance and cooperation, beyond the concept of boundaries and despite social distance. Krakow is an ideal place for such activities. It is here that tourists from abroad come to learn about the unique history of the city and students from all over the world – to study at Krakow’s universities, and many foreigners choose Krakow as a place to live and work permanently.

The limitations caused by the pandemic make meeting other people virtually impossible. And paradoxically today – the idea of a joint meeting takes on a new meaning and becomes a pressing need. Aware of the difficulties, we want to – at least partially – respond to these needs. The Multicultural Festival – New Cracovians will take place in a hybrid form: workshops, discussions, on-line lectures, but also activities of a solidarity nature. The aim of the festival is to strengthen the positive image of foreigners who live in Krakow, to integrate foreigners with Polish-speaking residents of Krakow and to signal to those who had to leave Poland due to the pandemic that we are waiting for their return.

Online painting workshops, Ukrainian embroidery and cutouts workshops, multicultural walk paths, preparation of the “Multicultural Library” or the challenge of “tongue twisters” and tasty support for Krakow restaurants run by foreigners will be an opportunity to meet and talk – to get to know and learn about each other’s cultures.
