Villa- Country - Europe: Indian Masala

[2008-09-02] The Villa Decius Association and the Polish School of Yoga invite you to another of the cycle of meetings Villa- Country – Europe. This time it will be devoted to the culture of India, as a contribution to this year being the Year of India in Poland. The programme of the meeting includes lectures and presentation that aim to showing India as an unusual ‘masala of culture’ – a unique mosaic of languages, religions and ethnic traditions living together, as well as a space full of inner contrasts. As a culture attractive with its variety of colours, sounds, smells, beauty and richness of art, but also a culture marked by the poverty and pains of the everyday existence.

International Conference "Millennium Goals of Culture?"
16th-17th October 2008

[2008-08-15] The conference will be an attempt at presenting the activities of international institutions responsible for the introduction of the Millennium Development Goals, and shall define the scope and methods of work of the international community, enter the debate on the conflict between culture and law, and eventually present initiatives in support of the Millennium Goals and dialogue between cultures.

Visegrad Summer School – summary
6-19 July 2008

[2008-08-04] From 6th to 19th of July Villa Decius hosted the Visegrad Summer School. 45 students from Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Belarus, Bosnia&Herzegovina, France, Malta, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine attended the programme. [2008-08-01] The Villa Decius Association hereby informs that the rightful owner of the Villa Decius Palace and Park Complex is the Krakow City Commune. Since the renovation works were finished and Villa Decius was restored to the inhabitants of Krakow and Poland in 1996, the historical Palace and Park Complex has become the seat of the Villa Decius Association. The Association is a public benefit organization which as main goals sets building a forum for exchanging ideas and opinions of people of all nationalities and cultures, supporting European integration processes, promotion of Human Rights and humanistic heritage of European civilization.

Visegrad Summer School – open events
6th-19th July 2008

[2008-07-06] Like every year we would like to invite you to open sessions and cultural events of The Visegrad Summer School. In this edition we recommend a panel debate Sustainable development - challenges for business (in English), lecture and debate 1968: Warsaw - Paris – Berkeley (in English), a concert of The Visegrad Cello Quartet and the Visegrad Film Festival in the "Mikro" cinema.

Visegrad Summer School is "carbon neutral"
We are going to plant 210 trees in Babiogórski National Park

[2008-07-04] This year The Visegrad Summer School will be a "carbon neutral" event thanks to cooperation with The Aeris Futuro Foundation in the ‘Time 4 Forest' Programme. The organisation of the event in the ‘carbon neutral’ standard includes the estimation of the "carbon footprint", recommendations of minimising it and then offsetting the carbon footprint by planting trees in Babiogórski National Park.

Inauguration of The Visegrad Summer School
7th July 2008

[2008-07-01] On Monday begins The Visegrad Summer School. It is already the seventh edition of the school organised by the Villa Decius Association. We planned a lecture and a panel debate with the Ambassadors of the Visegrad Group countries, Mr Borys Tarasyuk and Mr Witold Sobków on the future of the European Union for the inauguration. The ceremony will end with a concert of the Visegrad Cello Quartet.

Visegrad Cello Quartet
7th July 2008, 2.00 p.m.

[2008-06-28] Concert of the Visegrad Cello Quartet is one of the highlights of the VII Visegrad Summer School’s inauguration. Young musicians will perform compositions of Krzysztof Penderecki, Peter Graham, Marián Varga and others in unconventional arrangements. The band comprise of four artists from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia what makes it a great example of artistic collaboration between Visegrad Countries.
